Why do portals reject my photo?

Almost always one of three things: the pixel dimensions aren't exactly what's asked (e.g. 200×230), the file is over the KB cap, or the format is wrong (PNG where JPG/JPEG is required). This tool fixes all three at once: it resizes to the exact pixels and searches JPEG quality until the file lands inside the KB window.

How does it hit the KB target?

It encodes your image at several JPEG quality levels (a binary search) and keeps the highest quality that stays at or under the cap. The size shown is the real encoded size — exactly what you download, not an estimate.

What if my file comes out below the portal's minimum KB?

Most portals only enforce the maximum, but some (notably Indian government portals) also enforce a minimum. If even the best quality lands below the minimum, the tool says so honestly instead of padding the file with junk bytes. Below-minimum files are usually still accepted; if yours is rejected, start from a slightly larger or more detailed photo.

What if the KB cap can't be reached at all?

At very small caps with very detailed photos, even the lowest JPEG quality can be too big. The dimensions are fixed by the portal, so the fix is a simpler source photo: plain background, even light, less clutter. The tool tells you clearly when this (rare) case happens.
