Will my photo definitely be accepted?

The size is exact and the guides follow published norms, but the overlay is guidance — not certification. Requirements (background color, expression, glasses, how recent the photo is) vary by country and change over time, so always check the issuing authority's current specification before you submit.

Why does the DPI setting matter for printing?

Print shops and government portals read the density metadata inside the file to work out the physical size. This tool writes real DPI metadata (JFIF density for JPEG, a pHYs chunk for PNG), so a 35×45 mm photo saved at 300 DPI prints at exactly 35×45 mm instead of whatever the printer guesses.

Can I keep the file under a portal's size limit?

Yes. Set an optional maximum in KB and the tool lowers the JPEG quality just enough to fit, then shows the real encoded size in the Output check before you download. If even the lowest quality is too large it says so honestly instead of padding or silently failing — try 300 DPI or a simpler photo.

Which units can I use for a custom size?

Millimetres, inches, or pixels. Pixels are read at the selected print resolution — 600 px at 300 DPI is 50.8 mm (2 in) — and the tool always shows the millimetre equivalent it will export.
